I grew up under the Florida sun
where days were hotter than you can imagine
nights were hazy and muggy too
but our Daddy found a way to keep us cool
(he’d say)
C’mon kids let’s take a little ride
We’ll cross the lake to the other side
We’ll shine the spotlight far and wide
on Daddy’s Moonlight Alligator Boat Ride
Keep an eye out, Daddy said
for brightly shining little dots of red
‘cause gator eyes glow red at night
like in a picture from a flash bulb light
(so)
C’mon kids let’s take a little ride
We’ll cross the lake to the other side
You never know what we might find
on Daddy’s Moonlight Alligator Boat Ride
And the moon danced upon the surface
of the cool dark water like a million silver fishes
As we cruised, we felt so safe and sound
It wasn’t even scary when we finally found
8 alligator, 8 alligator, 8 alligator eyes
What a thrill to see a family of four
chillin’ in the water, hanging out by the shore
We saw two baby gators and their mommy at play
and we heard the daddy alligator say:
C’mon kids let’s take a little ride
We’ll cross the lake to the other side
Just climb on my back and I’ll be your guide
for Daddy’s Moonlight Alligator Boat Ride
